GG and the Cold Bloods: British Reptile & Amphibian Art Supporting UK Conservation

We’re proud to feature artwork from Ali, founder of GG and the Cold Bloods — a British wildlife artist dedicated to raising awareness for UK reptile and amphibian conservation.

Her work celebrates some of Britain’s most underrepresented species: our remarkable cold-blooded wildlife. From threatened reptiles to endangered amphibians, each design aims to inspire appreciation, advocacy, and action for species that are too often overlooked.

Championing the UK’s Cold-Blooded Wildlife

Ali created GG and the Cold Bloods after recognising a clear imbalance in conservation focus. During her university studies and early career, she observed that mammals often receive the majority of public attention and funding — while reptiles, amphibians, and other ectothermic animals are frequently underrepresented in science, media, and conservation campaigns.

Determined to help shift that narrative, she built a brand centred on the conservation of cold-blooded animals.

Her designs highlight endangered British species such as the Great Crested Newt, the UK’s only native venomous snake, the Adder, and the the rare Pool Frog — a species once lost from Britain and now the focus of dedicated reintroduction and conservation efforts. These animals depend on habitat protection and active conservation work to survive.

From Exotic Species to British Habitat Restoration

Throughout her career, Ali has worked with a wide range of exotic species, gaining valuable hands-on experience with reptiles and amphibians from across the globe. Today, her focus is firmly rooted in British conservation — particularly habitat restoration and the protection of native reptile and amphibian populations.

With biodiversity in decline and habitat fragmentation affecting species across the UK, there has never been a more urgent time to advocate for reptiles and amphibians. Many of Britain’s ectotherms rely on specific microhabitats, carefully managed landscapes, and long-term conservation commitment.

Through art, Ali helps translate that urgency into connection.

British Wildlife Art with a Purpose

Each GG and the Cold Bloods art print is designed to:

  • Celebrate endangered UK reptiles and amphibians
  • Spark conversations about ectotherm conservation
  • Encourage appreciation of misunderstood species
  • Support wider awareness of habitat loss in Britain

By choosing artwork that features British reptiles and amphibians, supporters can help bring these species into homes, classrooms, and workplaces — keeping them visible in both culture and conservation.

“I started my brand GG and the cold bloods, in order to put a much needed spotlight on species that often go underrepresented in science and media. After university and during my studies, I saw a real bias between conservation efforts made for mammals and the lack of conservation focus on non-mammalian species. During my past careers, I have had the pleasure of working with a myriad of exotic species and am now focusing more on British conservation, habitat restoration and advocating for the conservation of ectothermic animals.

My designs feature endangered species from Britain with a focus on the weird and wonderful cold blooded animals. British wildlife needs our  help now more than ever, with the rate of extinction so high. We need more people advocating for ectotherms.”

Supporting UK Reptile and Amphibian Conservation

At ARC, we believe reptiles and amphibians deserve equal conservation priority. Featuring Ali’s British wildlife art helps amplify the message that cold-blooded animals matter — not only as fascinating species, but as essential components of healthy ecosystems.

When you support this collaboration, you are helping to:

  • Raise awareness of UK reptile conservation
  • Promote amphibian protection efforts
  • Support habitat restoration advocacy
  • Elevate underrepresented species in British wildlife
Ali was kind enough to donate some of her artwork to us which we have now been able to feature in our store! Check it out here. We are incredibly grateful, and the money raised from purchases goes directly to our conservation work.
