Our EDI Vision

At the heart of our mission lies a vision of a world where every individual, regardless of background or identity, has an equal opportunity to engage with and contribute to wildlife conservation efforts. We envision a community where diverse perspectives enrich our understanding of environmental challenges and inspire innovative solutions.

 

Our Commitment

1. Cultivating Diversity:

We are committed to building a team and volunteer network that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We actively seek out individuals from different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences to join our cause.

2. Fostering Equity:

We strive to ensure that all members of our organization have equitable access to resources, opportunities, and decision-making processes. We are dedicated to breaking down barriers and creating pathways for underrepresented groups to thrive in conservation.

3. Promoting Inclusion:

We believe in creating a culture of inclusion where every voice is valued and heard. We actively promote an environment where individuals feel safe, respected, and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives.

  

Our Initiatives

1. Diversity in Leadership:

We are actively working to diversify our leadership team and board of directors to ensure that a wide range of voices are represented at the highest levels of our organization.

 

2. Education and Outreach:

We are committed to raising awareness about the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the conservation field. Through education, workshops, training sessions, and community events, we aim to foster dialogue and understanding among stakeholders.

 

3. Collaborative Partnerships:

We actively seek out partnerships with organizations that share our EDI values. By working together, we can amplify our impact and create lasting change in the conservation sector.

 

ReThink Nature apprentice scheme 

  • Comprised of communications and EDI officers 
  • Brings together EDI resources, training and issues discussion 
  • Development of paid internship with mutli agency and multi taxa

TEPoP group 

  • Led by the JNCC, comprised of statutory agencies and wildlife NGO’s 
  • Running major monitoring schemes 
  • Looking at good EDI practice for inclusion

National Centre for Diversity 

  • Benchmark EDI award for small charities

Scotland and England Wildlife and Countryside LINK 

The England LINK EDI working group draw from several working sub-groups of which ARC is an active member:  

  • Data and monitoring 
  • Training and mentoring 
  • Culture and diversity 

Similarly in Scotland we are active members in the ScotLINK EDI working group, supporting minority groups with protected characteristics, through education and inclusion within our working practices.
